California58 Local | October 23, 2026. This report is based on a dated primary government source and distinguishes proposals from adopted decisions.
What is on the ballot
McFarland’s official municipal election page identifies the mayoral position for a four-year term, District 1 for four years, District 2 for a two-year short term and District 3 for four years. Not every resident votes in every council district. Check the address-based district and the Kern County sample ballot.
How candidates qualified
The city’s nomination period ran July 13–August 7, 2026. A person who requested candidate materials is not necessarily qualified. The final official candidate list and county election records should be consulted before publishing a contested-race lineup.
Voting information
The city clerk’s office, reached through 661-792-3091, provides local election administration information. Kern County Elections is the authority for voting locations, registration and counting. California58 does not endorse candidates.
